Lead King Basin

Rating: 3
This is a solid 3. Low-range is required as there are some moderately steep climbs, narrow sections, and a few mild ledges to climb. We had a stock Jeep Liberty (the older body style) in our group and they had no issues.

Location
Marble, CO

Trailhead
This trail completes the loop with the road to Crystal Mill. The trail begins in Marble, CO. Follow the county road 3 through Marble and it will turn into a dirt road that takes you to Crystal Mill.

GPS Coordinates: 39.072659, -107.181725.

Description
This is a fun road that completes the loop with Crystal Mill. This is an alternate way to return to Marble after seeing the Mill.

The road is a little more difficult than the road to Crystal Mill. There is one section that is much more narrow than any section going to the mill. This section is only a few feet long, but it is a steep edge that drops a long way down to the river below. If the road to Crystal Mill was too narrow for you, do not continue on to Lead King Basin or Scholfield pass.

Follow the route to Crystal Mill and enjoy the mill. As a note, the right turn about 1.5 miles is where Lead King Basin returns. I recommend staying to the right and going to Crystal Mill first.

About a mile past Crystal Mill you will take a left turn at the intersection. The GPS coordinates of this intersection are 39.059248, -107.096409. Schofield Pass is to the right at this intersection, which is more difficult and doesn't return back to Marble.

Once you make the left turn after the mill, follow this road and it will join back into county road 3 and you return to the town of Marble.

Here is the KML file (made from Google Maps, my track didn't record correctly) and a map of the road.

I just love signs like this.
