Dominguez Canyon

Rating: 1. This is an easy, graded road that a typical passenger car can traverse.

Location: Between Delta and Grand Junction, CO.

Trailhead: 14.1 miles north of Delta, CO measured from the Maverick Gas Station. 18.4 miles south of Grand Junction, CO measured from the junction of highways 50 and 141. GPS Coordinates are 38.809784, -108.279721 (38°48'35.2"N 108°16'47.0"W).

This is a very short dirt road through Dominguez Canyon. It is well maintained and nicely graded. The road is short, only about 5.5 miles. It was a nice short trip for us while the kids were sleeping when we were travelling home from Grand Junction. It dead-ends at private property. The round trip was only about 30 minutes.

The scenery was desert with some small red-rock cliffs. The road takes you to the Gunnison River and private property along the Gunnison.

This isn't a trail that I would go out of my way to see, but if you are in the area it may be worth it. My co-workers said there is a connector road that goes between the beginning of Dominguez Canyon and the beginning of Escalante Canyon. This connector would be fun to combine with Escalante Rim Road.
